Graphs Two metric (interval) | Scatter Plot

  • Let us say that you have two metric (interval) variables, and that you are interested in the relationship between them; e.g.: How are the height of father and son related?
  • Which type of graph would you use to examine this relationship graphically?
  • The most common way to plot the relationship between two continuous variables is the two-way scatter plot
  • Scatter plots are created by setting up two continuous axes, then creating a dot for every pair of observations

Example (Relationship between the height of fathers and their sons)
