Chapter 13

Logarithmic wind profiles - what does that mean? What is the windspeed at height z?

Wind speed increases logarithmically with elevation in a „neutral atmosphere“

Windspeed at height z:

z0m is the theoretical height at which the windspeed is 0

0.01m for soil and higher with vegetation.

Displacement height = vertical displacement caused by surface elements, =0 for bare ground, greater for vegetation.

Logarithmic wind profile only accounts for heights above the appearant sink of momentum.
