Validation & Calibration - 3 step approach

  1. Build a model that has high face validity (e.g. checked with sensitivity analysis)

  2. Validation of model's assumptions (e.g. structural assumptions of how the system should operate AND data assumptions on reliability and statistical analysis)

  3. Compare the model input-output transformations with the real system’s data (e.g. validate the model's capability to predict future behaviour)
