Schwannoma discriminators

  1. most frequently involve ulnar and peroneal nerves
  2. most common tumour of peripheral nerves
  3. most common intradural extramedullary masses (posterior fossa)
  4. they grow slowly and cause bone remodelling, vertebral body scalloping, and neural foraminal enlargement
  5. consist of Schwann cells, myxoid material and collagen
  6. may have cystic degeneration
  7. if multiple association with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2)
