Emotionsfokussierte Paartherapie

Original Greenberg

  • EFT concentrates on problems in the emotional bond between partners
  • Two important aspects of the emotional bond
    • Attachment longings and needs and caring - a lack of which is manifested in emotions such as separation anxiety & sadness
    • Validation and confirmation of identity and empathy - a lack of which is manifested in emotions such as shame & fear of invalidation.
    • Focuses on disclosing each partners underlying vulnerable, attachment and identity related emotional reactions to relational events underlying negative interactional patterns
  • Negative interactional patterns often due to partners’ expression of protective/defensive emotions (often anger) that obscure more vulnerable adaptive emotions and needs (threat)
  • Relational healing comes by transforming negative interactional cycles through expression of primary attachment- and identity-related underlying vulnerable emotions
  • The goal is to create new, healthy patterns of interaction by disclosing emotions to restructure interactions
