Rulers:  Mars               
Mars is traditionally said to be ‘at home’ in Scorpio, supported by Scorpio’s ability to defend and attack when necessary, and also by its ability to withstand great pressure and difficulty – survival is a key skill arising from this placement. On the other hand, there might exist an instinctive drive to destroy, even when this is not desirable, simply to test the power of one’s own fighting spirit.

Detriment:  Venus      
Being in detriment, Venus here may be subject to dramatic desires or emotional possessiveness which can threaten the stability of a relationship. On the other hand the person may work hard at establishing a true sense of self-value which over time releases them from the intrigues which Scorpio can be so attracted to.

Fall:  Moon     
In traditional terms Scorpio is a difficult placement for the Moon, since the Moon rules growth and protection, whereas Scorpio eliminates and destroys everything which has become outgrown. Positively, the individual can work to develop a greater feeling of inner stability and security, so as to weather the emotional storms of Moon in Scorpio.
